Your first port of call should be to a Applicator/Plasterer who can give you a price to rectify the work.
Impact or accidental damage to the Resene Construction Systems exterior cladding can be repaired. The process involves cleaning and removing any component of damaged product and reinstating it with the same overcoating system that is applied according to current specifications. The following outlines the process to repair various degrees of accidental impact damage;
Impact damage – Type 1- scuffing / grazing of the surface coating that has not broken through the fibre glass mesh reinforcement.
- Remove loose material and clean the damaged surface by brushing to remove any latent dirt or loose plaster material.
- Mineral texture – Apply selected mineral texture coating to a pre-defined finishing point to ensure any visual change in appearance is minimised. Seal the textured area, and apply the selected finishing coats of paint.
- Acrylic texture – Apply selected mineral texture coating to a pre-defined finishing point to ensure any visual change in appearance is minimised. Seal the textured area, and apply the selected finishing coats of paint.
- Installation of vertical control joints may be required to reduce the area to be overcoated and to minimise any visual defect from the new textured area. If you decide to proceed with the noted process we will identify these areas with you prior to commencement of any works.
Impact damage – Type 2 – Impact of the surface coating that has broken through the fibre glass mesh reinforcement and damaged the plaster coating under the fibreglass mesh.
- Remove loose material and clean the damaged surface by brushing to remove any latent dirt or loose plaster material. This may require the cutting away of fibreglass mesh to remove loose material below the mesh.
- Apply a coat of Rockcote MultiStop Bedding compound directly onto the prepared area and extending the plaster 200mm either side of the impact damage. Apply a layer of fibreglass mesh into the wet bedding plaster.
Impact damage – Type 3 – Impact of the surface coating that has broken through the entire plaster coating, and damaged the substrate.
An independent report is required to assess the structural integrity of the sub-frame. The coating/cladding repairs are dependant on the outcome of this report. The cladding may have to be replaced to the surrounding area. Resene Construction Systems technical manager must review this type of work prior to cladding being repaired.
