Light and Heavyweight Fixings
Lightweight Fixing (1kg or less) – EPS/XPS Claddings
- This method of fixing can be used for the following – Downpipes, Letter boxes, security lights, & most other lightweight exterior fixtures into EPS type systems
- Installation Procedures Insert either #2 or #3 Phillips driver bit into the recess of the Zip-It anchor head. Use a manual screwdriver, or electric screw gun.
- Apply enough pressure to scour the plaster surface, or to start the hole, drill a hole to break the top layers of plaster. Screw the Zip-It slowly to ensure it bites into the plaster layers.
- Before you completly screw the Zip-it into place apply a bead of modified sealant under the head of the Zip-It. This will provide a watertight seal against the Plaster. Screw the Zip-It finger tight DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN the Zip-It.
- When you have the Zip-It fixed flush with the Rockcote Plaster. Insert a bead of modified sealant into the head of the Zip-It. You can then attach your fitting, by inserting an 8mm self taping screw into the head of the Zip-It
Lightweight Fixing (1kg or less) – Masonry Claddings (Integra, Brick, Concrete Block)
- This method of fixing can be used for the following – Downpipes, Letter boxes, security lights, & most other lightweight exterior fixtures
- Use a 6.5x38mm Nail-In Nylon Anchor (or similar).
- Drill a hole through the finished plasterwork the depth of the anchor and insert the anchor into the hole makeing sure it is a tight fit.
- Install the lightweight object screwing through into the anchor underneath.
Heavyweight Fixings on Timber/Steel Frame (up to 5kg)
- Ensure that additional nogs/dwangs have been placed between the vertical framing members where you are wanting to place your heavyweight fixing.
- Place 20mm packers over the top of the additional blocking that is in place if there is a cavity installed.
- Install additonal blocking over the top of the packers that comes out to the surface of the cladding prior to any plastering. Ensure that the fixings you are using penetrate at least 30mm into the blocking (not the packers) if you are using nails and 20mm if you are using screw fixings.
- EIFS Tape must be applied directly over the exposed treated timber blocking & overlap the substrate 50mm on all sides.
