4.3 Liquid Membranes

Vector5 – Waterproofing Reinforced Membrane – for use over Maintainable Parapets/Balustrades

Vector 5 – A thixotropic, high build barrier, waterproofing membrane, reinforced with chop strand fibreglass matt. This is an applied finishing system for use over plastered substrates, providing water proofing to balustrades and other ‘maintainable surfaces’.

1 x coat Resene Limelock (Refer to Technical DataSheet)

1 x body coat Resene Thixalon with chop strand fibreglass matt embedded. (Refer to Technical DataSheet)

1 x bedding coat of Resene Thixalon applied over wet body coat after fibreglass matt has been applied. (Refer to Technical DataSheet)

1 x finish coat of Resene Thixalon applied once bedding coat has cured. (Refer to Technical DataSheet)

2 x coats of Resene X200 in selected colour (Refer to Technical DataSheet)

Waterproofing Window Reveals – Concrete and ICF Block

All joinery reveals must be waterproofed prior to application of renders. A liquid membrane or similar waterproofing must be applied. The membrane must cover the entire window reveal and extend at least 50mm down the outside face of the form work / block work.

Reveals must be made good (blow holes, bug holes rendered) to ensure the application of the water proof membrane is accurate.

Resene Construction Systems recommends the use of Resene Construction Systems Hydroplast (Refer to Technical DataSheet) as the waterproofing membrane. Refer to WANZ details July 2005 Windows Association of New Zealand for more information.

Waterproofing Foundation Recesses

All foundation recesses must be waterproofed prior to application of renders. A liquid membrane or similar waterproofing must be applied. The membrane must cover the entire foundation recess and extends up behind the building underlay.

Any recesses must be made good (blow holes, bug holes rendered) to ensure the application of the water proof membrane is accurate.
