2.21 Check and Prepare Magnesium Board Substrates

Preparation based on new substrate installations.

Preliminary Checks

Magnesium Board Substrates – please refer to the manufacturer’s installation instructions for the substrate.

The main contractor supplied and installed the vermin-proofing track as per the magnesium board manufacturer’s instructions, where a cavity wall system is being used. The vermin proofing track can be manufactured from uPVC, aluminium, or stainless steel and must be punched with 3-5 mm holes or slots complying with NZBC Acceptable Solution E2/AS1, Paragraph 9.1.8.3 to provide ventilation openings of 1000 mm2 per lineal metre.

Other flashings may be required as determined by the substrate supplier.

Builder Supplied Flashings

Make sure all builder-supplied flashings are in place. The architectural drawings provide a list of possible flashings.

Refer to the flashings as outlined within the Resene Construction Systems Specification

Control/Expansion Joint Setouts
