Natural, Bespoke & Handmade

Tantalus Estate was founded in 2013 on 8 hectares of established vineyard land on Waiheke Island.

Over two levels of exclusive spaces were redefined by Cheshire Architects and the owners to create a warm and welcoming experience. The design affirms the commitment to be handmade, organic and bespoke, reflecting the same principles in design as with the food, wine and beer available. The lighting is made from twisted vines, interior walls are finished with hand applied natural Rockcote Clay Décor plaster that has been infused with chopped wheat straw. The exterior is a combination of volcanic stone, and hand applied ‘Fitzroy’ oxide cement render.

This project builders W G De Gruchy Construction received the National Commercial Projects – Retail category National award for this project.
